Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions are a legal agreement between you and Allotd. They cover what the app does, your account, the allergy safety feature, and what you and we are each responsible for.

By creating an account or otherwise using Allotd, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which is part of this agreement. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Who We Are

Allotd is a Mobiiverse company ("Allotd," "we," "us," "our"). These Terms govern your access to and use of the Allotd mobile application and any related services (together, the "Service").

Description of the Service

Allotd helps you turn the food you already have into recipes. In short, the Service:

  1. Lets you photograph the contents of your fridge or pantry;
  2. Uses a third-party AI model (currently OpenAI's vision models) to identify the ingredients visible in that photo;
  3. Lets you review, correct, add to, or remove items from that identified list before anything is generated from it;
  4. Uses a separate third-party AI model (currently an OpenAI language model) to generate recipe suggestions from your confirmed ingredients, taking into account any dietary preferences and allergies you've chosen to provide; and
  5. Where you've provided allergy information, applies an additional filtering step (see "The Allergy Safety Feature") before showing you any AI-generated recipe.

Allotd is positioned as a tool to save you time, money, and food waste. It is not a health, fitness, calorie-tracking, or medical product, notwithstanding the allergy-related functionality described below, which exists as a safety feature layered onto a food-and-recipe product, not as a health-management product.

Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms in your jurisdiction. Allotd does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under this age — see our Privacy Policy for more detail.

Your Account

You're responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it up to date. Notify us promptly (see "Contact") if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

Access, Usage Limits, and Billing

Allotd is currently free to use, subject to reasonable usage limits (for example, a limited number of scans and recipe generations per hour) to keep the Service running smoothly for everyone. There is no paid subscription and no in-app purchase yet — nothing is charged to you today. If that changes, we'll update this section and notify you before any charge applies.

The Allergy Safety Feature — Please Read This Section Carefully

What it is

If you choose to tell us about any food allergies, Allotd uses that information in two ways: (a) we include an instruction in the prompt sent to our AI recipe-generation provider telling it to avoid your declared allergens, and (b) independently of that, our own backend checks every AI-generated recipe against your declared allergen list after it's generated, and discards any recipe that appears to contain a declared allergen before it's shown to you. Providing allergy information is entirely optional and requires a separate, explicit opt-in described in our Privacy Policy — it is not implied by your general acceptance of these Terms.

What it is not

This feature materially reduces, but does not eliminate, the risk of an allergen appearing in a suggested recipe. It relies on an AI model correctly identifying ingredients from a photo, you accurately and completely describing your allergies, and automated text-matching correctly recognizing an allergen even under an uncommon name or as part of a sub-ingredient. None of these steps is guaranteed to be perfect. Allotd does not represent or warrant that any recipe is free of any particular allergen, and the allergy filter is not a substitute for reading ingredient labels, using your own judgment, and consulting a doctor or allergist about your specific dietary needs.

Your responsibility

You are solely responsible for verifying that any recipe, and any ingredient you use to prepare it, is safe for you and anyone you're cooking for, before you cook or eat it — regardless of whether Allotd's filter has already screened that recipe. If you or someone you're cooking for has a severe or life-threatening allergy, apply particular caution and independent verification, and don't rely on Allotd as your sole safeguard.

Nothing in this section limits the general disclaimers and liability limitations below, which also apply to the allergy feature.

AI-Generated Content

Allotd uses third-party AI services, currently provided by OpenAI, to identify ingredients from your photos and to generate recipe suggestions.

AI-generated content, including identified ingredients and generated recipes, may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies unrelated to allergens too — for example, incorrect quantities, cooking times, or missing steps. Use common sense and your own judgment when following any recipe.

Your Content and License to Us

When you use the Service, you may submit photos, ingredient lists, dietary preferences, allergy information, and other content ("Your Content"). You retain ownership of Your Content.

You grant Allotd a limited, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable (except to our service providers, including our AI providers, strictly as needed to operate the Service — see our Privacy Policy), revocable license to use, process, and store Your Content solely to provide the Service to you. This license ends when you delete the relevant content or your account, subject to the retention practices in our Privacy Policy.

We do not currently use Your Content to train our own AI models, and we do not sell Your Content. If that ever changes, we'll update this section and our Privacy Policy first, and where required by law, ask for your consent before doing so.

Prohibited Uses

You agree not to: (a) use the Service for any unlawful purpose; (b) attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract the underlying models or data behind the Service; (c) attempt to manipulate or "jailbreak" the AI features to generate content outside the Service's intended purpose; (d) misuse the Service's usage limits or any future trial or subscription system, including creating multiple accounts to obtain additional free access; or (e) upload photos containing identifiable third parties without their consent, or content that is unlawful, infringing, or harmful.

Allotd respects intellectual property rights. If you believe content accessible through the Service infringes your copyright, you can send a notice via our contact page including: (1) a description of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed; (2) a description of where the allegedly infringing material is located; (3) your contact information; (4) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized; and (5) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and you're authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf.

In practice, Allotd's fridge/pantry photos are processed transiently and are never stored on our servers or shown to any other user (see our Privacy Policy), so there is limited surface for this to come up — but we maintain this process as good practice and to leave room for future features.

THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ALL AI-GENERATED CONTENT, IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, ALLOTD DOES NOT WARRANT THAT INGREDIENT IDENTIFICATION WILL BE ACCURATE, THAT RECIPES WILL BE SAFE, NUTRITIOUS, OR SUITABLE FOR ANY PARTICULAR PERSON, OR THAT THE ALLERGY FILTER WILL CATCH EVERY INSTANCE OF A DECLARED ALLERGEN. ALLOTD IS NOT A MEDICAL DEVICE AND THE SERVICE IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL OR DIETARY ADVICE.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ALLOTD AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ANY ADVERSE REACTION TO FOOD PREPARED FROM A RECIPE SUGGESTED BY THE SERVICE. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALLOTD'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID ALLOTD IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including, where applicable, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Allotd harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service, except to the extent caused by Allotd's own breach of these Terms or applicable law.

Dispute Resolution and Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, and any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service that isn't resolved informally will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the DIFC Courts.

No arbitration clause. This draft deliberately omits a mandatory arbitration clause and class-action waiver. Before pursuing a formal claim, we encourage you to contact us (see "Contact") so we can try to resolve the issue informally.

Apple-Required Terms (EULA)

Because Allotd is distributed on the Apple App Store and uses a custom end-user license agreement rather than Apple's Standard EULA, these Terms also serve as that license agreement and include the following terms Apple requires:

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or through the Service before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date means you accept the updated Terms.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time through the app (Settings → Delete Account) or by contacting us. The sections on the Allergy Safety Feature, Prohibited Uses, Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Dispute Resolution survive termination.

Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, branding, and underlying software (but excluding Your Content and any third-party AI output), is owned by Allotd and protected by intellectual property laws. You're granted a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the Service for its intended purpose.

Third-Party Services

The Service relies on third-party providers, including OpenAI (AI processing), Supabase (authentication and data storage), Railway (backend hosting), and Sentry (crash monitoring), and in the future may rely on RevenueCat (subscription management). Your use of the Service is also subject to the applicable terms of Apple as the App Store operator. See our Privacy Policy for more detail on these providers and what data is shared with them.
